A rural eco-upgrade and renovation, working on a rustic building including a kitchen with an earth floor! This 17th century cottage had been haphazardly extended over many decades. For us as renovation architects, it needed a bespoke approach.

We changed the flow, including moving the stairs, to create a home with plenty of character and retained features. The clients were keen to improve the building's sustainability, so we designed in extra insulation and an air source heat pump. The renovation was uniquely detailed to meet the clients’ individual requirements – including providing spaces for cherished furniture items.
